Fiber Friend Shapes
Pierce your paper through the holes of the shape of your choice.
Starting
from the back, stitch through the holes. Secure the fiber to the back
of
the paper with acid-free tape.
Design Ideas:
Use each shape "as is", stitching a simple pattern with fiber. Two
sizes of
each design are included to provide variety for your page layouts and
cards.
Nested patterns provide many design possibilities. Stitch a double
shape,
with the same fiber or different colors. Stitch from the inner to the
outer
holes, creating a contemporary look. Stitch from the center hole to
the
outer holes (you may wish to place an eyelet at the center to
strengthen the
hole).
The flowers can be stitched using the "front" petals only, or all of
them
for a fuller effect. Use light and dark shades for the front and back
petals to change the look. The centers of both flowers are the same
size,
allowing you to create interesting effects with the petals.
The tree patterns can be stitched as either a primitive or regular
tree,
depending on how you stitch the fibers. Use the lines on the template
as
your guide.
Leaves can be stitched in one color, or variegated to add interest.
Change
the color of fiber based on the season. Change the look by skipping
the
additional holes in the large leaf.
Stitch the design directly to the background paper or cut around the
shape
for a die-cut appearance.
Let your imagination be your guide!
